Aorta-Right Atrium Tunnels: A Heart-Blowing Diagnosis

This case report presents the diagnostic pathway and management of a rare congenital cardiac anomaly with an aorto-right atrial communication. Case: A 20-year-old male was assessed in clinic due to chest pain aortic dilation. He presented acutely recurrent pain. underwent multimodality cross-sectional imaging invasive testing determine anatomical physiological nature defect. Given known dilated aorta, patient first computed tomography, which incidentally detected communication from sinuses right atrium identified, previously unknown. Further assessment magnetic resonance did not demonstrate significant shunt QpQs 1:1. proceeded catheter, further defined course communication, haemodynamic data supported absence shunt. Consensus Adult Congenital Group pursue conservative management. Aorta-right tunnels continue be entity. Multimodality is crucial defining parameters lesion, allowing for improved clinical decision-making. In this case, unlike previous common practice when most these patients received surgery regardless their situation, conservatively managed. With combining advanced imaging, shift away interventions becoming more common.
